# AI Governance Policy

Effective June 11, 2026 | Version 1.0

This policy explains how The Ladder AI uses artificial intelligence and how human oversight, privacy, safety, and accountability are handled.

## What AI Does

The Ladder AI uses AI to support:

- Placement conversations.
- Guided training conversations.
- Practice feedback.
- Assessment conversations.
- Independent validation review.
- Standards and employment-readiness mapping.
- Internal content and workflow support.

AI is used to support learning and evidence review. It does not replace human judgment where qualified human review is required by law, contract, school policy, employment policy, or safety context.

## What AI Does Not Do

The Ladder AI should not be used as the sole basis for high-stakes decisions about:

- Employment.
- Admission.
- Discipline.
- Legal rights.
- Medical care.
- Financial eligibility.
- Safety-critical decisions.

Credential and transcript evidence should be reviewed by an appropriate human decision-maker before being used in high-stakes contexts.

## Human Oversight

The Ladder AI uses independent validation review for credential decisions. Users, schools, teams, employers, and administrators should be able to inspect evidence records and use human judgment when interpreting results.

## Data Minimization

The Ladder AI asks users not to submit unnecessary sensitive personal information. Prompts, responses, transcripts, and validation materials may be processed by AI providers as needed to deliver the service, but personal information should be minimized where practical.

## Safety and Misuse Controls

The Ladder AI is designed to discourage:

- Harmful, illegal, or abusive requests.
- Attempts to bypass assessment integrity.
- Misrepresentation of credential results.
- Reliance on AI output as guaranteed fact.
- Use of training content for high-stakes decisions without human review.

## Review Cycle

This policy should be reviewed at least annually and whenever The Ladder AI adds a significant AI capability, provider, data flow, credentialing workflow, or institutional deployment model.
